May 26, 2010 New Challenge Starts Today

Hello Ladies- Hope you all had a good week. I am happy to report that I am back down to 184 after going up last week because of my TOM. Next week hopefully a loss. We spent the whole weekend planting our garden and flowerbeds so I got exercise in that form but it was hot. It was 87 on Sunday and then 93 on Monday, which is just too hot for May in Wisconsin, that is more July and August weather. We don't have central air, just some window air conditioners but they aren't in yet so that made it hot. Sunday we went out for ice cream since we were done planting and because it was so hot. I had a turtle sundae and enjoyed every minute of it but really debated long and hard with myself if I should have it so there I have changed a lot since last year. I knew it was okay to splurge as long as it isn't all the time. Plus with the heat I hadn't really eaten a lot all day just drank water.

So for those of you who are interested in what I planted in my garden,(Heather)as usual I bought too many plants and seeds but we found room for all of them. Somehow we always do. So I bought Asparagus roots and they are planted, we won't see anything till next year. Also got some rhubarb from a friend and that needs to be planted tonight. I bought a flat of everbearing strawberries which also need a home and then I am going to get some raspberries from my mom this weekend. Yeah, So that is all stuff that will come back each year.
Now my garden has plum tomato and cherry tomato plants, red, yellow, green and jalapeno pepper plants, kohlarabi plant, Leek plants, red and yellow onion plants, green cabbage and red cabbage plant, broccoli plant, eggplants, basil and rosemary plants. Then from seed we did carrots, beans, peas, basil, cilantro, yellow squash, zucchini, watermelon, pumpkins, squash, cucumbers, beets, jalapenos, spinach, and lettuce. You think it was enough? LOL
We haven't had the best luck with watermelon, squash, pumpkins, eggplants or zucchini but everything else usually comes up. So come August I will have my hands full with lots of fresh veggies, Yeah. We eat what we can, share some and then freeze whatever can be frozen. I run a family daycare so I can not used homemade canned food but I can use homemade frozen food. So if anyone has any good recipes for freezing veggies let me know. Thanks. I'll post pictures soon, my hubbie went along to a field trip today and took the camera.

Week 2 of the 21 Day Challenge

I am happy to report that I had a loss this week. I am at 184, which is down 4 pounds from last week. Yeah. I have been trying to walk as many days as I can for my exercise. The weather plays a huge role in that especially as I live in Wisconsin. Yesterday it was 75 degrees out with some wind, just beautiful. Last night we had thunderstorms that produced some tornadoes about 1 1/2 hours from us but made it so the biggest loser wasn't on because they cut in for the tornado info so I only got to watch the first 10 minutes and the last 10. My boys were not happy. So hopefully they will replay it or we will have to look online for it. Now today it is only in the 60's but extremely windy. We did go on a walk this morning, about 2.5 miles. I also did some gardening.
My goals for the challenge have been to take a multivitamin everyday and I have since last Friday, drink at least 64 ounces of water and eat at least 3 veggies/fruits a day and I have been doing all three. The last goal was to exercise everyday. I have not gotten something in everyday but I since Friday I have gotten exercise in 5 days, so I only missed one.
I would like to retake my measurements as I feel like my clothes are looser in some areas but the scale doesn't always reflect that. So it has been a good week.
I really need to work on getting rid of my belly as that hasn't gone down a lot. Any suggestions as to what exercise works best for this? Just good ole crunchers? Thanks. Have a great week.
