Weigh In Wednesday-June 22, 2011

Hello Fellow Shrinkers- I weighed myself this morning and I am exactly the same as last week, 175 lbs. Which is okay since I was not able to exercise at all last week because of having a hurt foot. But because I was not able to exercise I slept like crap and felt bad all week so I know how important it is to exercise because I could tell the difference when I wasn't able to do it! I also finally finished my period which I had for almost 11 days, which has not happened before and it was really annoying and frustrating but dr's said not a big deal. So I am sure that didn't help me to loose any weight this week. I did boot camp on Monday and I am still sore. I don't know if I will have time to get it in today but otherwise I will do it tomorrow. I think I can handle the challenge of having breakfast everyday because I already do this as it is a very important way to start the day. I also drink a lot of water all day long so I should be able to handle that one too! Well my kids are eating breakfast so I guess I should finish this up so I can get mine going too. Have a great week everyone.

True Confession-June 21, 2011

Hmm.... I am don't have a lot of time to write but I have some true confessions good and bad.
Good- I was able to do the first day of boot camp yesterday, my foot feels better! True confession- I hurt a lot today and I have been running 3x a week for the past 2 months!
I went to a child's bday party at Burger King yesterday for supper and I looked up their menu online ahead of time to see what was an okay choice. True Confession- I ate birthday cake! It was good though and not very big.
It was my birthday last week, I am 36 now! I ate out a few times, Arby's, starbucks for chai and subway! True Confession- I don't feel bad about it, it was my birthday and I still tried to make better choices!
I don't think anyone has read my post about my race a few weeks ago, so if you'd like to just go down about 2 posts and read about my 10K! Thanks.

True Confessions 6/14/11

This is my second post in two days! I confess that a friend brought donuts over on Saturday after the race as a treat, not great but my kids loved them. So there was one lonely donut sitting on the counter and I cut it this morning to see what was in it, cream! It sat there all day till during naptime and I thought why not!? I took one bite and then I walked to the garbage and spit it out and threw the rest away. It didn't even taste good! Woot!
I confess that it is my birthday on Thursday and since my parents were here over the weekend we celebrated my birthday on Saturday. They got me a pie from the local restaurant, it was a Toffee Cream Pie and I had a piece and it was too sweet and I had a hard time finishing all of my piece.
I confess that I went to run this afternoon because I wanted to and I was unable to make it very far as I had pain. My left foot was hurting by my arch and I readjusted my shoe and socks and tried again and I could not run. I was disappointed that I couldn't run, I walked back home but now my foot hurts all the time. So I don't know what happened and if I should go to the doctor or what.
Thanks for listening to my confessions. They were good confessions to have, I think. I am glad I think of myself as a runner and am glad that I can make those good choices most of the time!

Bellin 10K Race Report

So the day had finally come for the big race, the Bellin 10K in Green Bay on June 11, 2011. Last year I walked the Bellin in 1:45, my goal was to run it this year and get a better time. The Bellin offers local schools a chance to sign up for their Kids For Running program where kids can sign up at their school to train for the bellin and then run it. If kids can't afford shoes, or running clothes or the fee then a local company will pay for it. It is very cool. One of the parents who runs the Bellin every year decided she wanted to see it happening at our elementary school this year and so it did. We started training on April 4 with just a 1/2 mile run. We meet every Monday and Wednesday night to train and then on Saturdays when we got to our longer runs. I was asked to be one of the coaches, so I got a really cool running coat and a extra shirt. We started with around 60 kids at the start and ended with about 25-30 that actually did the run on Saturday. We also had quite a few parents that did it with their kids and trained with us. Very cool.
So Saturday was only like 50 something and a little cold but better than hot. We got up at 5:15am and woke up the kids and my mom and had oatmeal for breakfast. We then piled into the van at 6:15, to get to Green Bay to meet the rest of our group for 7:30. We got into our corrals around 8am. There was 18,701 people doing the Bellin for their 35th year. It was crazy but very exciting. We got to the start line right around 8:30 right as the first person was finishing!
I ran with my friend, Mary and we kept each other going. We walked when we got to each of the water stations and drank but then we kept running. When we got between mile 5 and the end Mary said,"When we get to the corner let's walk until that yellow house (less than 1/5 a block)." I said that's fine, I was getting tired and that little break was perfect and then we ran until the end! I finished it in 1:09:48, I couldn't believe it, just over one hour. I was soooo excited and pumped. We went through the corrals and got our water, food and then we got medals! They gave medals this year since it was the 35th year of the Bellin.

Then we found our Kids for Running group to see who was back. My 9 year old was back already, he finished in 1:04:23, my husband, Tom who was pushing our 4 year old finished in 1:23 (he was running and walking), my 11 year old had decided to walk with my mom instead of running and they finished in 1:45. I love the fact that our whole family did the race. It was very cool.

By the way this is the first time I have blogged since July 2010, almost a year. I am going to try very hard to keep up with this as this will def. help with my journey. Thanks to the sisterhood of the shrinking jeans for helping me get to this race and running the whole thing! It was all because I did the Couch to 5K in the fall and kept going. Thanks!

Last Day of Challenge

So today is the last day of our challenge. I haven't blogged in about a month. I had to look back and see what I was at the beginning of the challenge and I was at 184 and now I am at 180 so down 4 pounds for the challenge but I have gone lower than that throughout the challenge but then went up. I think I have been losing the same pound and then gaining it for awhile. Oh, well.
I have been exercising. I did day 20 of the 6 week challenge today on the EA Sports Active, so I have to figure out what I am going to do after that. I have also done some walking, gardening, etc. I also bought the Weight Watchers, Eat, Move, Play book about 2 weeks ago. I have read almost all of it and I have tried a few things out of it and like it so far.
Our garden has been giving us lots of fresh veggies, so far we have had broccoli, green beans, yellow squash, lettuce, spinach, basil, rosemary, kohlrabi's, and we have peppers that are almost ready to pick. We also got some fresh cucumbers and zucchini from an aunt so I made 3 loaves of Zucchini bread on Sunday night. They were yummy! It is hard to always eat right when you can be distracted by treats and eating out etc because of vacation and hot weather so I am happy that I have lost a little for this challenge. I have lost a total of 24 pounds since November so I am happy with that. Can't wait for the changes that are coming and a new team challenge. I hope I mesh with my team this time.

Happy 35th Birthday to me!

Well today is my birthday and so far it has been okay. I weighed in and I am at 179.5, the same as last week which is just fine especially since I have my TOM, we had a stomach bug at our house last week, my two oldest had strep and my husband and I did out first 10K last Saturday. WOOT! So being at 179.5, means I have lost 24.5 pounds since November. Yippee!! I still have more to lose but it feels amazing to have lost that much. I just feel so much healthier. The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans is having a Lands End giveaway this week for Swimsuits and I would love to win one. I have not bought a swimsuit in who knows how long and I really need a new one. Hope I win.
For my birthday I have the day off from work and my husband is home since it is Wednesday so we are going to Green Bay later for errands and because we have dentist appointments (me and the boys), how exciting. We will probably go out for lunch or supper, not sure where yet. Big decisions to be made.

Our first 10K went pretty well. We walked it. I did the 5K in 49:31 but right after that I had to go to the bathroom and I waited in line for almost 10 minutes to use the porta potty so I tried to catch up to my hubbie and friend, Jess but I never did. I finished in 1:46:25, with a pace of 17:08 per mile. I was really a little quicker than that but the stupid long line. Oh, well. I finished 13,779th out of 18,000 and some. I really pushed it at the end to catch up to them so I was really sore on Sunday but feel a lot better now. We have friends who did a tri a few weeks ago who really inspired my husband to want to do something like that so he found a dualathon he could do in October so now he is really considering doing that. We will see, I hope he does it.

Weigh In after Memorial Day 6/2/10

Well I am happy to say I am only up the same .5 pounds that I lost last week. At least it wasn't more than that. Honestly after traveling and having a few cookouts I am glad that was all it was. I did not do true confessions yesterday but I do have some to get off of my chest:
I drank a soda, first one since Easter and it wasn't that good.
I had ice cream, popsicles, gelato (yummy),more than once this weekend.
I did walk 3 miles on Sunday with my mom, hubbie and my 10 and 8 yr old walked it too while the 3 year old was in the stroller.
I did do some gardening.
I did get to hold and cuddle my new niece, Finley who is 8 weeks old.
I did sign up for a 10 K on June 12th, The Bellin Run in Green Bay, WI.

Okay so some good mixed in with the bad. We did have a great time visiting with my family from Friday afternoon till Sunday evening. We got home late and then Tom and the big two were in a small Memorial Day parade for Cub Scouts on Monday morning. Then we had lunch and I took the oldest two to see, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid". It was good. Now reality started yesterday with daycare and school again. My kids last day of school is this Friday, the only have a half a day. Then we will see how I can find "me time" to get in my exercise.
I did walk 3 miles this morning too. I have drank my 64oz of water since Sunday. I watched Jillian's new show last night but I did not do the tworkout. I will be thinking of you ladies doing your half marathon this Sunday, a friend of mine is going to be in our area and she is doing a triatholon on Sunday and I think we are going to go and watch and cheer her and her hubbie on. Good luck to all.
